‘DIAMOND’
While not a major country music fan, I’ve always had a fondness for Dolly Parton (and, I mean, who wouldn’t??). I loved her in Steel Magnolias as a child, belted out ‘I’ll always love you’ in the 90s, and sang aloud to ‘Jolene’ whenever it played in my older years. She’s been covered by so many Greats, which makes her one of the Greatest. She was a true gem and, while her absence will be felt, the legacy she’s left behind is something truly remarkable.
I created this mixed-media-to-digital-print for a group exhibition ‘Dolly Weird’ in Durham, North Carolina in 2023.
The print was made using scanned painted canvas, xerox prints, torn construction paper, and silver leaf. I included her quote, her signature butterflies, and her favorite flower - a yellow rose.
SPLASHLIGHT STUDIOS HOLIDAY CARD
I created this composition starting first with color correction and retouching and then super imposed a white spray paint ‘SPECTACULAR’ over the items with photoshop. Splashlight sent this image out to their clients as part of a holiday card.
